Abstract
Changes in the scope, structure and methods of management accounting found in practice, also had a significant impact on changing the role, skills and methods of management accountants. Controller providing data essential for the heads of the units are increasingly involved in the management and supports managers in set up operational and strategic decisions for activities of enterprises. This article aim to identify the role, functions and tasks performed by managerial accounting professionals in Poland in the context of the experience of foreign researchers. The objective will be done through literature studies, including an analysis of national and international publications. This analysis will bring the discussed topics and determine the direction of the evolution of the profession controller in the enterprise. In the first part of the article discusses the role and function of management accountants, in the second part presents the responsibilities controller of in the context of the evolution of management accounting and formulated conclusions.
